Cardinals call up Matt Adams

The St Louis Cardinals are calling up first baseman Matt Adams as Lance Berkman heads to the DL. Adams will likely split time with Matt Carpenter as the Cardinals other first base option Allen Craig is also on the DL. Adams is hitting well at the Cardinals Triple A team in Memphis with .340/.375/.603 with 9 HR, 27 RBI, 20 R and 1 SB in 37 games. In 2011 at Double A he hit .300/.357/.603 with 32 home runs, 101 RBI, 80 R and 0 SB in 115 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 23rd round in 2009.Adams will be 24 on August 31.
