Jonathan Broxton traded to Reds

Jonathan Broxton was traded by the Kansas City Royals to the Cincinnati Reds on July 31, 2012. In exchange the Royals received Donnie Joseph and J C Sulbaran.


RHP Broxton was in his eighth MLB season pitching with the Royals and Dodgers. In 2012 he was 1-2 with a 2.27 ERA, 25 K, 1.40 WHIP, 23 SV in 35.2 IP over 35 games with Kansas City. For his MLB career he is 26-22 with a 3.11 ERA, 529 K, 1.24 WHIP, 107 SV in 428.2 IP over 422 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the second round in 2002. Broxton turned 28 on June 16.


LHP Joseph had split 2012 between the Reds Double A team in Pensacola and Triple A team in Louisville. He was 4-2 with a 0.89 ERA, 46 K, 0.69 WHIP, 13 SV in 30.1 IP over 26 games with Pensacola ans was 4-1 with a 2.86 ERA, 22 K, 1.41 WHIP, 5 K in 22.0 IP over 18 games with Louisville. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the third round in 2009. Joseph will be 25 on November 1st.


RHP Sulbaran was pitching with the Reds Double A team in Pensacola. He was 7-7 with a 4.04 ERA, 111 K, 1.48 WHIP in 104.2 IP over 19 games with Pensacola. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the 30th round in 2008. Sulbaran will be 23 on November 9th.
