Anthony Recker was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Chicago Cubs on August 27, 2012. In exchange the Athletics received Blake Lalli.
Recker is a catcher with two seasons of limited time with the Athletics. He had split 2012 between Triple A Sacramento and Oakland. He hit .265/.358/.435 with 9 HR, 29 RBI, 29 R, 3 SB in 52 games with Sacramento and hit .129/.250/.161 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 13 games with Oakland. For his MLB career he has hit .146/.281/.188 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 6 R, 0 SB in 18 games. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the 18th round in 2005. Recker will be 30 on August 29.
Lalli is a C\1B who has split 2012 between Triple A Iowa and Chicago. He hit .259/.293/.395 with 7 HR, 40 RBI, 33 R, 0 SB in 93 games with Iowa and hit .133/.188/.133 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 6 games with Chicago. He originally signed with the Cubs as an amateur free agent in 2006. Lalli turned 29 on May 12.
