Roger Clemens pitches 3.1 innings 082512

It had been nearly five years since Roger Clemens had been on the mound in a professional game. He was expected to have more rust than the tin man after a summer of thunder storms. He had turned 50 earlier this month on August 4th. The seven time Cy Young winner is attempting to reboot his career with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.

Tonight he got the start against the Bridgeport Bluefish and held his own for over three innings. His final line was 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 B, 2 K in 37 pitches. Sugar Land went on to win 1-0.

I had heard before the game that the Houston Astros expressed interest in Clemens. It was reported that both the Astros and Kansas City Royals had scouts at the game. The Astros are more likely considering Clemens ties to the team. If Clemens does play in a MLB game it would reset the clock for his Hall of Fame eligibility.
