Jesse Chavez traded to Athletics

Jesse Chavez was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Oakland Athletics on August 24, 2012 in exchange for cash. He is in his fifth MLB season playing with the Blue Jays, Royals, Braves and Pirates. The RHP had split 2012 between Triple A Las Vegas and the Blue Jays. He was 8-5 with a 3.98 ERA, 86 K, 1.16 WHIP, 1 SV in 95.0 IP over 19 games with Las Vegas and was 1-1 with a 8.44 ERA, 27 K, 1.64 WHIP in 21.1 IP over 9 games with Toronto. For his MLB career he is 7-11 with a 5.74 ERA, 143 K, 1.52 WHIP in 174.0 IP over 152 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 42nd round in 2002. Chavez turned 29 on August 21.
