Joe Saunders was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Baltimore Orioles on August 26, 2012. In exchange the Diamondbacks received Matt Lindstrom and cash or a player to be named later.
LHP Saunders is in his eighth MLB season pitching with the Diamondbacks and Angels. In 2012 he was 6-10 with a 4.22 ERA, 89 K, 1.36 WHIP in 130.0 IP over 21 games with Arizona. For his MLB career he is 75-62 with a 4.17 ERA, 639 K, 1.37 WHIP in 1116.2 IP over 182 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels with the 12th pick of the first round in 2002. Saunders turned 31 on June 16.
RHP Lindstrom is in his sixth MLB season pitching with the Orioles, Rockies, Astros and Marlins. In 2012 he was 1-0 with a 2.72 ERA, 30 K, 1.29 WHIP in 36.1 IP over 34 games with Baltimore. For his MLB career he is 13-15 with a 3.68 ERA, 253 K, 1.42 WHIP, 45 SV in 315.1 IP over 346 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the 10th round in 2002. Lindstrom turned 32 on February 11.
