J C Romero was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Baltimore Orioles on August 13, 2012. In exchange the Indians received Carlos Rojas.
LHP Romero is in his 14th MLB season playing for the Cardinals, Rockies, Phillies, Red Sox, Angels and Twins. He had started the season pitching for the Orioles Triple A team in Norfolk, was released, signed with the Indians and pitched for their Triple A team in Columbus and then was traded back to Baltimore. This season he was 1-0 with a 2.51 ERA, 13 K, 1.06 WHIP, 2 SV in 14.1 IP over 17 games with Norfolk and was 0-0 with a 3.12 ERA, 7 K, 0.85 WHIp, 1 SV in 8.2 IP over 8 games with Columbus. For his MLB career he is 34-28 with a 4.14 ERA, 525 K, 1.51 WHIP, 7 SV in 659.0 IP over 677 games. He was originally drafted by the Twins in the 21st round in 1997. Romero turned 36 on June 4th.
Rojas is a third baseman who had split 2012 between the Orioles Double A team in Bowie and their Triple A team in Norfolk. In 2012 he had hit .296/.345/.333 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 9 games with Bowie and hit .208/.270/.226 with 0 HR, 7 RBI, 8 R, 0 SB in 39 games with Norfolk. He originally signed with the Cubs as an amateur free agent in 2001 out of Venezuela. Rojas turned 28 on January 11.
