The miraculous return of Bartolo Colon has been proven to be more than smoke and mirrors. He has been given a 50 game suspension by Major League Baseball for having a synthetic testosterone in his system. He admits his fault and accepted the punishment like a man. The man with the Charles Barkley body had been having an impressive two year run after having several seasons cut short due to injuries. The 2005 Cy Young winner had become the Astound Round on the Mound. There were the controversial reports of stem cell therapy but it turns out it was more than that.
His loss the the Athletics' rotation would have had more of an impact on the team's play off push if Brett Anderson hadn't just returned and Dan Straily and A J Griffin have shown much promise in their appearances this season. Whether Colon returns from this remains to be seen because the suspension ends this season and he turned 39 on May 24. Retirement might be likely.
