Steve Delabar Strikesout Four in One Inning 081312
Steve Delabar of the Toronto Blue Jays had the uncommon feat of striking out four in one inning against the Chicago White Sox on August 13. Delabar was pressed into service as the game went to extra innings. He took the ball in the top of the tenth and proceeded to strikeout Dayan Viciedo, Tyler Flowers, Gordon Beckham and Alejandro De Aza. All four went down swinging but Flowers reached base when the ball got away from catcher Jeff Mathis. Delabar also pitched the eleventh inning adding two more strikeouts when he put down Kevin Youkilis swinging and Alex Rios looking. The Blue Jays scored in the bottom of the 11th to allow Delabar to pick up the win. It was just his seventh game with the Blue Jays after being acquired in a trade with the Seattle Mariners on July 30.
