Casey McGehee traded to Yankees

Casey McGehee was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the New York Yankees on July 31, 2012. In exchange the Pirates received Chad Qualls.


McGehee is a 1B\3B in his fifth MLB season playing with the Pirates, Brewers and Cubs. In 2012 he was hitting .230/.297/.377 with 8 HR, 35 RBI, 27 R, 1 SB in 92 games with Milwaukee. For his MLB career he has hit .260/.316/.419 with 60 HR, 277 RBI, 202 R, 2 SB in 529 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 10th round in 2003. McGehee will be 30 on October 12.


RHP Qualls is in his ninth MLB season pitching with the Yankees, Phillies, Padres, Rays, Diamondbacks and Astros. In 2012 so far he has split the season between the Phillies and Yankees. He was 1-1 with a 4.60 ERA, 19 K, 1.53 WHIP in 31.1 IP over 35 games with Philadelphia and was 1-0 with a 6.14 ERA, 2 K, 1.77 WHIP in 7.1 IP over 8 games with New York. For his MLB career he is 40-35 with a 3.85 ERA, 447 K, 1.29 WHIP, 51 SV in 581.2 IP over 580 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the second round in 2000. Qualls will be 34 on August 17.
