Tommy John claims Soria and Madson

Royals closer Joakim Soria and Reds closer Ryan Madson will both miss the 2012 season after elbow injuries require Tommy John surgery. Both should require 12 to 18 months to recover. Soria has expressed a desire to return to Kansas City after his rehab period but his contract may be too costly for the organization. Madson was signed by the Reds in the off season to a one year deal.

In other injury news this week Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain dislocated his ankle in a gruesome accident while on a trampoline with his son. He was still recovering from Tommy John surgery and was expected to return in June. Now he will also miss the entire 2012 season.
