Here is my week six installment of College Spotlight for 2012. This week I am looking at Chad Christensen of Nebraska and Zach Godley of Tennessee.
Junior Shortstop Chad Christensen of Nebraska is one of the leading hitters on a team that is among the national leaders in team batting average, home runs and runs. Christensen is coming off a strong performance on Sunday against Illinois when he was three for five with four RBI, three runs and one steal. For the season he is hitting .389/.459/.657 with six home runs, 33 RBI, 28 runs and four steals in 26 games. Most of those totals already surpassed his sophomore season when he hit .292/.335/.344 with one home run, 16 RBI, 24 runs and five steals in 55 games.
Junior RHP Zach Godley of Tennessee is the big giant killer of the week as he helped hand Kentucky their first loss of the season. On Friday he went eight innings and only allowed three hits, two walks and one earned run while having four strikeouts. For the season he is 4-1 with a 2.92 ERA, 30 strikeouts and 0.97 WHIP in 37.0 innings over six games, He gained experience in the bullpen his sophomore season as he was 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA, 34 strikeouts, 1.69 WHIP and two saves over 32.0 innings over 28 games.
