Kyle Blanks traded to Athletics

Kyle Blanks was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Oakland Athletics on May 15, 2014. In exchange the Padres received Jake Goebbert and a player to be named later or cash.

Blanks is a 1B\OF with six seasons MLB experience playing with the Padres. He had split 2014 between Triple A El Paso and the Padres as he hit .265/.364/.651 with 9 HR, 20 RBI, 15 R, 0 SB in 27 games at El Paso and hit .200/.200/.200 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 5 games with the Padres. For his MLB career he has hit .229/.311/.402 with 28 HR, 98 RBI, 91 R, 5 SB in 240 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 42nd round in 2004. Blanks will be 28 on September 11. 

Goebbert is an outfielder who played at Triple A Sacramento prior to the trade where he hit .257/.371/.505 with 6 HR, 25 RBI, 21 R, 1 SB in 31 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the 13th round in 2009. He was traded to the Athletics in 2013. Goebbert will be 27 on September 24.
