Travis Blackley traded to Astros

Travis Blackley was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Houston Astros on April 4, 2013. In exchange the Athletics received Jake Goebbert.

LHP Blackley has three seasons MLB experience pitching with the Athletics, Giants and Mariners. He split 2012 between Triple A Fresno, the Giants and the Athletics. He was 3-0, 0.39 ERA, 19 K, 0.69 WHIP, 1 SV in 23.1 IP over 4 games at Fresno, was 0-0, 9.00 ERA, 2 K, 1.80 WHIP in 5.0 IP over 4 games with the Giants and was 6-4, 3.86 ERA, 69 K, 1.18 WHIP in 102.2 IP over 24 games with the Athletics. He originally signed with the Mariners as an amateur free agent in 2000. Blackley turned 30 on November 4th.

Goebbert is an outfielder who split 2012 between Double A Corpus Christi and Triple A Oklahoma City. He hit .304/.399/.473 with 9 HR, 53 RBI, 71 R, 5 SB in 114 games at Corpus Christi and hit .133/.257/.167 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 16 games at Oklahoma City. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the 13th round in 2009. Goebbert turned 25 on September 24.
