Josh Fields traded to Dodgers

Josh Fields was traded by the Houston Astros to the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 1, 2016. The Astros in exchange received Yordan Alvarez.

RHP Fields had split 2016 between Triple A Fresno and the Astros. He was 1-0, 1.65 ERA, 32 K, 0.95 WHIP, .192 BAA, 1 SV in 27.1 IP over 23 games at Fresno and 0-0, 6.89 ERA, 20 K, 1.66 WHIP, .343 BAA in 15.2 IP over 15 games with the Astros. Over four MLB seasons with the Astros he was 9-10, 4.53 ERA, 197 K, 1.26 WHIP, .238 BAA, 9 SV in 159.0 IP over 164 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners with the 20th pick of the first round in 2008, was traded to the Red Sox in 2011 and was selected by the Astros in the 2012 Rule 5 Draft. Fields will be 31 on August 19.

Alvarez is an OF\1B signed by the Dodgers in June 2016 as an amateur free agent out of Cuba. He turned 19 on June 27.
