Erick Aybar was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the Detroit Tigers on August 16, 2016. The Braves in exchange received Mike Aviles and Kade Scivicque.
Aybar is a SS\2B who split 2016 between Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves, He hit .172/.226/.207 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB in 7 games at Gwinnett and .242/.293/.313 with 2 HR, 26 RBI, 27 R, 3 SB in 97 games with the Braves. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Tigers, Braves and Angels he hit .274/.314/.374 with 50 HR, 443 RBI, 600 R, 144 SB in 1320 games. He originally signed with the Angels in 2002 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Aybar turned 32 on January 14.
Aviles is a SS\2B\3B who hit .210/.258/.269 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 17 R, 2 SB in 68 games with the Tigers in 2016. Over nine MLB seasons with the Tigers, Indians, Red Sox and Royals he hit .262/.295/.378 with 59 HR, 298 RBI, 375 R, 78 SB in 878 games. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the seventh round in 2003. Aviles turned 35 on March 13.
Scivicque is a catcher who hit .282/.325/.380 with 6 HR, 41 RBI, 45 R, 0 SB in 105 games at Class A Advanced Lakeland in 2016. His minor league caught stealing rate is 26%. He was originally drafted by the Tigers in the fourth round in 2015. Scivicque turned 23 on March 22.
