Jesse Chavez was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 1, 2016. The Blue Jays in exchange received Mike Bolsinger.
RHP Chavez was 1-2, 4.57 ERA, 42 K, 1.28 WHIP, .269 BAA in 41.1 IP over 39 games with the Blue Jays. Over nine MLB seasons with the Blue Jays, Athletics, Royals, Braves and Pirates he was 25-40, 4.55 ERA, 515 K, 1.38 WHIP, .266 BAA, 2 SV in 579.0 IP over 292 games with 49 GS. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 42nd round in 2002. Chavez will be 33 on August 21.
RHP Bolsinger had split 2016 between Triple A Oklahoma City and the Dodgers. He was 2-1, 3.41 ERA, 34 K, 1.45 WHIP, .288 BAA in 29.0 IP over 13 games with 2 GS at Oklahoma City and 1-4, 6.83 ERA, 25 K, 1.52 WHIP, .303 BAA in 27.2 IP over 6 games with the Dodgers. Over three MLB seasons with the Dodgers and Diamondbacks he was 8-16, 4.61 ERA, 171 K, 1.45 WHIP, .275 BAA in 189.1 IP over 37 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 15th round in 2010. Bolsinger turned 28 on January 29.
