Josh Willingham traded to Royals

Josh Willingham was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Kansas City Royals on August 11, 2014. The Twins in exchange received Jason Adam.

Outfielder Willingham hit .210/.345/.402 with 12 HR, 34 RBI, 34 R, 1 SB in 68 games with the Twins and has hit .344/.400/.656 with 2 HR, 6 RBI, 8 R, 1 SB in 10 games with the Royals. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Royals, Twins, Athletics, Nationals and Marlins he has hit .254/.359/.468 with 195 HR, 632 RBI, 558 R, 35 SB in 1133 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the 17th round in 2000. Willingham turned 35 on February 17.

RHP Adam had split 2014 between Double A Northwest Arkansas and Triple A Omaha as he was 4-8, 5.03 ERA, 89 K, 1.39 WHIP in 98.1 IP over 19 games at Northwest Arkansas and 1-1, 2.35 ERA, 11 K, 1.37 WHIP in 15.1 IP over 8 games at Omaha. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the fifth round in 2010. Adam turned 23 on August 4th.
