Chasing 50-50 080714

This is the third year of my Chasing 50-50 segment. It started two seasons ago as we followed Matt Kemp of the Dodgers in his self proclaimed attempt to hit 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases. The 2014 season is under way and we are going to follow Kemp's efforts to see if he can make another run. As long as he is playing Kemp will always be part of this. I'm also keeping Mike Trout of the Angels and Carlos Gonzalez of the Rockies in the mix because I think they also have the speed\power combo capable of reaching the mark some day. Others will be added throughout the season as their production warrants. As of  May 1st I am adding Gonzalez's Rockies teammate Charlie Blackmon, Brewers teammates Carlos Gomez and Ryan Braun and Brian Dozier of the Twins. As of July 3rd I am adding Todd Frazier of the Reds, Andrew McCutchen of the Pirates and George Springer of the Astros. This is week 18 of the chase.

Matt Kemp

Kemp was productive with the major categories hitting 5 for 23 with 3 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R, 2 SB in 6 games. This season he is hitting .282/.347/.472 w/ 14 HR, 50 RBI, 47 R, 7 SB in 104 games.
