This is the 18th segment of 2014 as I continue to follow Bubba Starling and Fred Ford as they make their way up the minor league ranks of the Kansas City Royals. Starling starts off 2014 at Class A Advanced Wilmington as the Red Rocks were 33-35 in the first half and are 25-29 in the second half. Ford started 2014 repeating time at Class A Lexington as the Legends finished the first half 29-41 and are 20-36 in the second half and on August 8th was moved up to Wilmington.
Bubba seemed to be working on his plate discipline as he walked nine times while hitting 2 for 13 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB in 6 games. For the season he is hitting .219/.312/.351 with 9 HR, 52 RBI, 63 R, 15 SB in 116 games.
Fred is struggling mightily in the new league as he hit 1 for 13 with 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 5 games this week. For the season between the two league he is hitting a combined .201/.290/.358 with 11 HR, 48 RBI, 46 R, 8 SB in 109 games.
