Upton brothers reach 100 home run mark same day

Justin Upton of the Arizona Diamondbacks and B J Upton of the Tampa Bay Rays each reached the home run milestone on August 3, 2012. Justin Upton hit his in the second inning off Kyle Kendrick of the Philadelphia Phillies to help power a 4-2 victory. B J Upton hit his in the fourth inning against Tommy Hunter of the Baltimore Orioles as the Rays won 2-0. 


B J Upton is the older brother and is in his eighth season roaming the outfield for the Rays. This season he is hitting .242/.302/.376 with 10 HR, 39 RBI, 42 R, 19 SB in 90 games. For his MLB career he has hit .255/.338/.412 with 100 HR, 408 RBI, 502 R, 220 SB in 910 games. He was originally drafted by the Devil Rays with the second pick of the first round in 2002. Upton will be 28 on August 21.


Justin Upton is in his sixth season as an outfielder with the Diamondbacks. This season he is hitting .271/.359/.404 with 9 HR, 45 RBI, 70 R, 12 SB in 98 games. For his MLB career he has hit .276/.357/.474 with 100 HR, 341 RBI, 401 R, 74 SB in 679 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks with the first over all pick in 2005. Upton will be 25 on August 25.
