Nice Shades Ezequiel
Ezequiel Carrera was called up for the Cleveland Indians game tonight against the Detroit Tigers. He got the start in left field and in the second inning he made a sophomore mistake. Alex Avila hit a blast in his direction and Carrera misplayed the ball because he lost it in the sun. The odd thing is he had sunglasses but neglected to flip them down to block out the sun. The hit went for a double which is questionable because it should have been an out. I'm certain that he got an earful from the veterans and coaches because he did a much better job keeping the sunglasses in place the rest of the game. While this may have been the first game of his sophomore campaign Carrera had 68 games under his belt his rookie season. Another twist on this is the fact he had lost a ball last season in part due to misusing his sunglasses. A clinic on when and how to use sunglasses may be in order to pound the point home for Carrera.
