Ricky Nolasco was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Los Angeles Angels on August 1, 2016 along with Alex Meyer and cash. The Twins in exchange received Hector Santiago and Alan Busenitz.
RHP Nolasco was 4-8, 5.13 ERA, 93 K, 1.35 WHIP, .287 BAA in 124.2 IP over 21 games with the Twins in 2016. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Twins, Dodgers and Marlins he was 104-97, 4.58 ERA, 1319 K, 1.33 WHIP, .277 BAA in 1633.2 IP over 286 games with 268 GS. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the fourth round in 2001. Nolasco turned 33 on December 13.
RHP Meyer had split 2016 between Triple A Rochester and the Twins. He was 1-1, 1.04 ERA, 19 K, 0.87 WHIP, .183 BAA, 1 SV in 17.1 IP over 3 games with 2 GS at Rochester and 0-1, 12.27 ERA, 5 K, 3.27 WHIP, .421 BAA in 3.2 IP over 2 games with 1 GS with the Twins. Over two MLB seasons with the Twins he was 0-1, 14.21 ERA, 8 K, 3.00 WHIP, .400 BAA in 6.1 IP over 4 games with 1 GS. He was originally drafted by the Nationals with the 23rd pick of the first round in 2011 and traded to the Twins in 2012. Meyer turned 26 on January 3rd.
LHP Santiago was 10-4, 4.25 ERA, 107 K, 1.33 WHIP, .233 BAA in 120.2 IP over 22 games with the Angels in 2016. Over six MLB seasons with the Angels and White Sox he was 33-32, 3.68 ERA, 595 K, 1.33 WHIP, .233 BAA, 4 SV in 653.1 IP over 163 games with 105 GS. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 30th round in 2006 and was traded to the Angels in 2013. Santiago turned 28 on December 16.
RHP Busenitz had split 2016 between Double A Arkansas and Triple A Salt Lake. He was 0-1, 1.93 ERA, 32 K, 1.04 WHIP, .244 BAA, 3 SV in 32.2 IP over 24 games at Arkansas and 0-1, 7.62 ERA, 13 K, 1.62 WHIP, 308 BAA in 13.0 IP over 10 games at Salt Lake. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 25th round in 2013. Busenitz will be 26 on August 22.
