Jonathan Lucroy traded to Rangers

Jonathan Lucroy was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Texas Rangers on August 1, 2016 along with Jeremy Jeffress. The Brewers in exchange received Lewis Brinson, Luis Ortiz and PTBNL.

Lucroy is a C\1B who hit .299/.359/.482 with 13 HR, 50 RBI, 48 R, 5 SB in 95 games with the Brewers in 2016. Over seven MLB seasons with the Brewers he hit .284/.342/.436 with 79 HR, 387 RBI, 346 R, 29 SB in 805 games. His career MLB caught stealing rate is 27%. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the third round in 2007. Lucroy turned 30 on June 13.

RHP Jeffress was 2-2, 2.22 ERA, 35 K, 1.25 WHIP, .262 BAA, 27 SV in 44.2 IP over 47 games with the Brewers in 2016. Over seven MLB seasons with the Brewers, Blue Jays and Royals he was 11-4, 2.93 ERA, 177 K, 1.39 WHIP, .260 BAA, 28 SV in 193.2 IP over 198 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers with the 16th pick of the first round in 2006. Jeffress will be 29 on September 21.

Brinson is an outfielder who had split 2016 between Rookie Arizona and Double A Frisco. He hit 3 for 15, .231/.333/.308 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB in 4 games at Arizona and .237/.280/.431 with 11 HR, 40 RBI, 46 R, 11 SB in 77 games at Frisco. He was originally drafted by the Rangers with the 29th pick of the first round in 2012. Brinson turned 22 on May 8th.

RHP Ortiz had split 2016 between Class A Advanced High Desert and Frisco. He was 3-2, 2.60 ERA, 28 K, 1.05 WHIP, .221 BAA in 27.2 IP over 7 games with 6 GS at High Desert and 1-4, 4.08 ERA, 34 K, 1.36 WHIP, .296 BAA, 1 SV in 39.2 IP over 9 games with 8 GS at Frisco. He was originally drafted by the Rangers with the 30th pick of the first round in 2014. Ortiz will be 21 on September 22.
