Michael Young traded to Phillies

Michael Young was traded by by the Texas Rangers to the Philadelphia Phillies on December 8, 2012. In exchange the Rangers received Josh Lindblom and Lisalverto Bonilla.

Young is an infielder who has played 1B\2B\3B\SS in his 13 seasons of MLB experience all with the Rangers. In 2012 he hit .277/.312/.370 with 8 HR, 67 RBI, 79 R, 2 SB in 156 games. For his MLB career he has hit .301/.347/.444 with 177 HR, 984 RBI, 1085 R, 89 SB in 1823 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the fifth round in 1997. Young turned 36 on October 19.

RHP Lindblom has two seasons MLB experience pitching with the Phillies and Dodgers. He went to the Phillies in August as part of the Shane Victorino tradeBefore the traded he was 2-2 with a 3.02 ERA, 43 K, 1.26 WHIP in 47.2 IP over 48 games with Los Angeles. After the trade he was 1-3 with a 4.63 ERA, 27 K, 1.54 WHIP, 1 SV in 23.1 IP over 26 games with Philadelphia. For his MLB career he is 4-5 with a 3.31 ERA, 98 K, 1.26 WHIP, 1 SV in 100.2 IP over 101 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the second round in 2008. Lindblom turned 25 on June 15.

RHP Bonilla split 2012 between Class A Advanced Clearwater and Double A Reading. He was 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA, 18 K, 0.97 WHIP, 1 SV in 13.1 IP over 10 games at Clearwater and was 2-1 with a 1.64 ERA, 46 K, 1.18 WHIP, 3 SV in 33.0 IP over 21 games at Reading. He originally signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent in 2008 out of the Dominican Republic. Bonilla turned 22 on June 6th.
