Danny Valencia traded to Red Sox

Danny Valencia was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Boston Red Sox on August 5, 2012. In exchange the Twins received Jeremias Pineda. 

Valencia is a third baseman with 3 seasons of MLB experience with the Twins. He had split 2012 between Triple A Rochester and Minnesota. He had hit .250/.289/.399 with 7 HR, 37 RBI, 30 R, 1 SB in 69 games with Rochester and hit .198/.212/.310 with 2 HR, 17 RBI, 13 R, 0 SB in 34 games with Minnesota. He was originally drafted by the Twins in the 19th round in 2006. Valencia will be 28 on September 19.

Pineda is an outfielder who had played for the Red Sox rookie team in the Gulf Coast League. In 2012 he had hit .421/.447/.534 with 0 HR, 22 RBI, 20 R, 14 SB in 36 games with GCL Red Sox. He had originally signed with the Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 2011 out of the Dominican Republic. Pineda will be 22 on November 16.
