Adrian Gonzalez traded to Dodgers in 9 player deal

Adrian Gonzalez was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 25, 2012 along with Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto. In exchange the Red Sox received James Loney, Ivan De Jesus, Allen Webster, Rubby De La Rosa and Jerry Sands.

Gonzalez is a first baseman in his ninth MLB season playing with the Red Sox, Padres and Rangers. In 2012 he hit .300/.343/.469 with 15 HR, 86 RBI, 63 R, 0 SB in 123 games with Boston. For his MLB career he has hit .294/.372/.509 with 210 HR, 728 RBI, 659 R, 2 SB in 1140 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the first over all pick in 2000. Gonzalez turned 30 on May 8th.

Crawford is an outfielder in his 11th MLB season playing with the Red Sox and Rays. Within the week Crawford had Tommy John surgery on his left elbow and had spent much of the early season on the DL. For 2012 he did hit .282/.306/.479 with 3 HR, 19 RBI, 23 R, 5 SB in 31 games. For his MLB career he has hit .292/.332/.441 with 118 HR, 667 RBI, 853 R, 432 SB in 1396 games. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the second round in 1999. Crawford turned 31 on August 5th.

RHP Beckett is in his 12th MLB season pitching with the Red Sox and Marlins. In 2012 he was 5-11 with a 5.23 ERA, 94 K, 1.33 WHIP in 127.1 IP over 21 games with Boston. For his MLB career he is 130-92 with a 3.93 ERA, 1715 K, 1.23 WHIP in 1849.0 IP over 300 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the second pick of the first round in 1999. Becket turned 32 on May 15.

Punto is a 3B/2B/SS in his 12th MLB season playing with the Red Sox, Cardinals, Twins and Phillies. In 2012 he was hitting .200/.301/.272 with 1 HR, 10 RBI, 14 R, 5 SB in 65 games with Boston. For his MLB career he has hit .247/.324/.325 with 15 HR, 228 RBI, 360 R, 97 SB in 952 games. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the 21st round in 1998. Punto will be 35 on November 8th.

Loney is a first baseman in his seventh MLB season all with the Dodgers. In 2012 he was hitting .254/.302/.344 with 4 HR, 33 RBI, 32 R, 0 SB in 114 games with Los Angeles. For his MLB career he has hit .284/.341/.423 with 71 HR, 451 RBI, 355 R, 29 SB in 896 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers with the 19th pick of the first round in 2002. Loney turned 28 on May 7th.

De Jesus is a 2B\3B in his second MLB season both with the Dodgers. He has split 2012 between Triple A Albuquerque and the Dodgers. He hit .295/.333/.415 with 3 HR, 33 RBI, 32 R, 1 SB in 60 games with Albuquerque and hit .273/.324/.364 with 0 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R, 1 SB in 23 games with Los Angeles. For his MLB career he has hit .231/.282/.277 with 0 HR, 5 RBI, 7 R, 1 SB in 40 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the second round in 2005. De Jesus turned 25 on May 1st.

RHP Webster was pitching with the Dodgers Double A team in Chattanooga. In 2012 he was 6-8 with a 3.55 ERA, 117 K, 1.45 WHIP in 121.2 IP over 27 games with Chattanooga. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 18th round in 2008. Webster turned 22 on February 10.

RHP De La Rosa started the season recovering from Tommy John surgery. In 2011 he had been 2-2 with a 2.92 ERA, 52 K, 1.22 WHIP in 40.0 IP over 8 games with Double A Chattanooga and was 4-5 with a 3.71 ERA, 60 K, 1.40 WHIP in 60.2 IP over 13 games with the Dodgers. In 2012 in his rehab assignments he was 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 3 K, 0.33 WHIP over 3.0 IP in 1 game with rookie level Arizona and was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 9 K, 0.78 WHIP in 9.0 IP over 3 games with Class A Advanced  Rancho Cucamonga. He originally signed with the Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 2007 out of the Dominican Republic. De La Rosa turned 23 on March 4th.

Sands is an OF\1B who split 2012 with the Dodgers Triple A team in Albuquerque and the Dodgers. He hit .303/.380/.531 with 24 HR, 101 RBI, 79 R, 1 SB in 109 games with Albuquerque and hit .174/.208/.261 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 9 games with Los Angeles. He had also played with the Dodgers in 2011 and for his MLB career has hit .244/.325/.376 with 4 HR, 27 RBI, 22 R, 3 SB in 70 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 25th round in 2008. Sands will be 25 on September 28.
