Spencer Patton traded to Cubs

Spencer Patton was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Chicago Cubs on November 20, 2015. The Rangers in exchange received Frandy De La Rosa.

RHP Patton split 2015 between Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers. He was 2-0, 1.67 ERA, 36 K, 1.11 WHIP, .206 BAA, 11 SV in 27.0 IP over 26 games at Round Rock and 1-1, 9.00 ERA, 28 K, 1.50 WHIP, .261 BAA in 24.0 IP over 27 games with the Rangers. Over two MLB seasons with the Rangers he was 2-1, 6.75 ERA, 36 K, 1.32 WHIP, .240 BAA in 33.1 IP over 36 games. Patton was originally drafted by the Royals in the 24th round in 2011 and traded to the Rangers in 2014. Patton will be 28 on February 20.

De La Rosa is a 2B\SS who played at Class A Eugene in 2015. He hit .273/.315/.367 with 0 HR, 30 RBI, 32 R, 11 SB in 62 games. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. De La Rosa will be 20 on January 24.
