Carlos Correa 2015 AL Rookie of the Year

Carlos Correa of the Houston Astros was named the 2015 American League Rookie of the Year after receiving 17 first place votes by the Baseball Writers Association of America for a total of 124 points. The only other player to receive first place votes was Francisco Lindor of the Indians with 13 first place votes and 109 total. Others receiving votes were Miguel Sano of the Twins with 20 points, Roberto Osuna (Blue Jays, 8), Billy Burns (Athletics, 6), Eddie Rosario (Twins, 2) and Delino DeShields Jr (Rangers, 1).

The shortstop split 2015 between Double A Corpus Christi, Triple A Fresno and the Astros. He hit .385/.459/.726 with 7 HR, 32 RBI, 25 R, 15 SB in 29 games at Corpus Christi, .276/.345/.449 with 3 HR, 12 RBI, 19 R, 3 SB in 24 games at Fresno and .279/.345/.512 with 22 HR, 68 RBI, 52 R, 14 SB in 99 games with the Astros. He was originally drafted by the Astros with the first over all pick in 2012. Correa turned 21 on September 22.
