Jose Pirela was traded by the New York Yankees to the San Digo Padres on November 11, 2015, The Yankees in exchange received Ronald Herrera.
Pirela is a 2B\OF who split 2015 between Class A Advanced Tampa, Double A Trenton, Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Yankees. RHP Herrera split 2015 between Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore and Double A San Antonio. He was 5-6, 3.88 ERA, 69 K, 1.25 WHIP, .258 BAA in 102.0 IP over 18 games at Lake Elsinore and 3-1, 4.53 ERA, 35 K, 1.42 WHIP, 1.42 WHIP in 43.2 IP over 8 games at San Antonio. He originally signed with the Athletics in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Venezula and was traded to the Padres in 2014 as the PTBNL. Herrera turned 20 on May 3rd.
