Jesse Chavez traded to Blue Jays

Jesse Chavez was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Toronto Blue Jays on November 20, 2015. The Athletics in exchange received Liam Hendriks.

RHP Chavez was 7-15, 4.18 ERA, 136 K, 1.35 WHIP, .268 BAA, 1 SV in 157.0 IP over 30 games with the Athletics in 2015. Over eight MLB seasons with the Athletics, Blue Jays, Royals, Braves and Pirates he was 24-38, 4.55 ERA, 473 K, 1.39 WHIP, .266 BAA, 2 SV in 537.2 IP over 253 games with 49 GS. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 42nd round in 2002. Chavez turned 32 on August 21.

RHP Hendriks was 5-0, 2.92 ERA, 71 K, 1.08 WHIP, .240 BAA in 64.2 IP over 58 games with the Blue Jays in 2015. Over five MLB seasons with the Blue Jays, Royals and Twins he was 8-15, 5.15 ERA, 194 K, 1.43 WHIP, .293 BAA in 253.1 IP over 97 games with 34 GS. He originally signed with the Twins in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of Australia. Hendricks will be 27 on February 10.
