Trevor Williams was traded by the Miami Marlins to the Pittsburgh Pirates on October 24, 2015, The Marlins in exchange received Richard Mitchell.
RHP Williams split 2015 between Double A Jacksonville and Triple A New Orleans. He was 7-8, 4.00 ERA, 88 K, 1.38 WHIP, .275 BAA in 117.0 IP over 22 games at Jacksonville and 0-2, 2.57 ERA, 13 K, 1.57 WHIP, .268 BAA in 14.0 IP over 3 games at New Orleans. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the second round in 2013. Williams turned 23 on April 25.
RHP Mitchell pitched in 2015 at Rookie Gulf Coast. He was 2-0, 3.38 ERA, 14 K, 1.36 WHIP, .253 BAA in 21.1 IP over 10 games. He originally signed with the Pirates in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of Columbia. Mitchell turned 20 on July 29.
