Darwin Barney traded to Blue Jays

Darwin Barney was traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Toronto Blue Jays on September 13, 2015 for a PTBNL. Jack Murphy was later sent to the Dodgers to complete the deal.

Barney is a 2B\SS who had split 2015 between Triple A Oklahoma City and the Dodgers. He hit .277/.325/.354 with 4 HR, 31 RBI, 52 R, 0 SB in 96 games at Oklahoma City and was hitless in four at bats over two games with the Dodgers. Over six MLB seasons with the Blue Jays, Dodgers, and Cubs he has hit .246/.294/.339 with 21 HR, 157 RBI, 228 R, 20 SB in 581 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the fourth round in 2007. Barney turned 30 on November 8th.

Murphy is a catcher who played in 2015 at Double A New Hampshire. He hit .220/.309/.315 with 3 HR, 31 RBI, 34 R, 0 SB in 85 games. His minor league caught stealing rate is 31%. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 31st round in 2009. Murphy turned 27 on April 6th.
