Juan Francisco was traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the Atlanta Braves on April 1, 2012. In exchange the Reds receive minor league player J.J. Hoover.
Francisco is a third baseman who played parts of three seasons with the Reds. He split 2011 between Rookie ball, Triple A and the Reds. He hit .500/.526/.833 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R. 0 SB in five games at Rookie ball, hit .307/334/.540 with 15 HR, 50 RBI, 46 R, 0 SB in 74 games at Triple A and hit .258/.289/.452 with 3 HR, 15 RBI, 10 R , 1 SB in 31 games with the Reds. For his career he has hit .284/.331/.450 with 5 HR, 29 RBI, 17 R, 1 SB in 81 games. He originally signed with the Reds as an amateur free agent in 2004 out of the Dominican Republic.
Hoover is a RHP who split 2011 between Double A and Triple A. He was 2-5 with a 2.48 ERA, 86 K, 1.07 WHIP and one save in 87 innings over 31 games at Double A and was 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA, 31 K, 1.29 WHIP and one save in 18.2 innings over 12 games at Triple A. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the 10th round in 2008.
