Matt Kemp said it. Whether he wanted to be under the spot light or a microscope he guaranteed he would be under both by saying it. Before the season started Kemp made the bold proclamation that he would be shooting for 50/50 this season.
Well this is the first segment of Matt Kemp Watch 2012. It will be weekly at the beginning of the season and become more frequent at the end if necessary.
After today's game the Dodgers and Kemp have played 13 games. In that time he has blasted out of the clubhouse with an outstanding seven home runs. That puts him on pace for 87. He might not have a problem holding up that end of the slash line. Yet through 13 games he only has one steal. That puts him on pace for 12 over the season. Even if he had been successful in the two attempts he was caught stealing he would only be on pace for 36. He will have to stay hot at the plate and maybe the opportunities will increase on the base paths as the season progresses.
Good luck Mr. Kemp. We're rooting for you to make history.
