It was a pitchers' duel for the ages. Matt Cain of the Giants and Cliff Lee of the Phillies went toe to toe for nine innings. Then Lee went another inning to pitch ten total. The only downfall was that neither got the victory as the Giants finally won 1-0 in 11 innings.
Both pitchers put up awesome stat lines. Cain had 9.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. Lee had 10.0 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. Neither had a very high pitch count as Cain had 91 while Lee had 102. It is amazing that there were no runs and only one walk allowed in the 19 innings between them and nine hits total. It was an exhibition of dominance.
