Here is my week seven installment of College Spotlight for 2012. This week I am looking at Justin Glass of Cincinnati and Justin Amlung of Louisville.
Sophomore outfielder Justin Glass of Cincinnati continued a strong season Sunday going three for three with two walks, four RBI and one run against Pittsburgh. Previous games this season also include 4 for 6, 4 for 4 and 5 for 5 games. For the 2012 season he is hitting .382/.440/.491 with 1 HR, 17 RBI, 23 R, and 10 SB in 26 games. He is improving on an impressive Freshman season when he hit .326/.398/.449 with 4 HR, 49 RBI, 39 R and 9 SB in 57 games. I think Glass will be one to keep an eye on and I think he is one of those players that can just plain hit.
Junior RHP Justin Amlung of Louisville had a strong outing Friday against Villanova pitching 7.0 innings while allowing only one hit, no walks and one unearned run as he struck out nine. For the season he is 5-2 with a 2.37 ERA, 49 K and 0.81 WHIP in 49.1 innings over seven games. His Sophomore season was also a good one as he was 10-2 with a 2.31 ERA, 80 K and 1.00 WHIP in 105.0 innings over 15 games. Louisville is off to a good start at 20-8 and Amlung is setting the tone to start each weekend series.
