Texas Rangers win right to negotiate with Yu Darvish

I was among the many to bite on the misinformation worm that the Toronto Blue Jays had submitted the winning bid for the right to negotiate with Yu Darvish. It has now been confirmed that the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters accepted the highest bid by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers are on the clock and have thirty days to sign Darvish to a Major or Minor League contract. Considering his elite status it is likely it will be a Major League contract.

As speculated in my previous post on Darvish it will be interesting to see how Darvish adjusts to the balls used by the MLB. If he signs with the Rangers he will be going to the number one hitters' park in MLB that ranked first in both runs and home runs. Considering that all the ballparks in the Nippon League are smaller it shouldn't be that difficult an adjustment. One thing that should help in the transition is Darvish played in the Pacific League which also uses the DH like the American League.
