Sergio Santos traded to Blue Jays

Sergio Santos was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the Toronto Blue Jays on December 6, 2011. In exchange the White Sox receive minor league player Nestor Molina.


RHP Santos played two seasons for the White Sox. In 2011 he was 4-5 with a 3.55 ERA, 92 strikeouts, 1.10 WHIP and 30 saves in 63.1 innings over 63 games. For his career he is 6-7 with a 3.29 ERA, 148 strikeouts, 1.30 WHIP and 31 saves in 115 innings over 119 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks with the 27th pick in the first round in 2002.


RHP Molina split his 2011 season between Class A advanced and Double A in the minors. In 2011 he was 10-3 with a 2.58 ERA, 115 strikeouts and 1.07 WHIP in 108.1 innings over 21 games at Class A Advanced and was 2-0 with a 0.41 ERA, 33 strikeouts and 0.64 WHIP in 22 innings over fives games at Double A. He originally signed with the Blue Jays as an amateur free agent in 2006 out of Venezuela.
