Aaron Cunningham traded to Indians

Aaron Cunningham was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Cleveland Indians on December 16, 2011. In exchange the Padres receive minor league player Cory Burns. 


Cunningham is an outfielder who has played four seasons with the Padres and Athletics. In 2011 he split the season between Triple A and the Padres. He hit .329/.398/.532 with nine home runs, 63 RBI, 65 runs and 4 steals in 87 games at Triple A and hit .178/.257/.367 with three home runs, nine RBI, 12 runs and one steal in 52 games with the Padres. For his career he has hit .231/.290/.375 with six home runs, 44 RBI, 42 runs and 4 steals in 150 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the sixth round in 2005.


RHP Burns pitched at Double A in 2011. He was 2-5 with a 2.11 ERA, 70 strikeouts, 1.04 WHIP and 35 saves in 59.2 innings over 54 games. He was originally drafted by the Indians in the eighth round in 2009.
