Leonys Martin traded to Mariners

Leonys Martin was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Seattle Mariners on November 16, 2015 along with Anthony Bass. The Rangers in exchange received Tom Wilhelmsen, James Jones and a PTBNL.

Martin is an outfielder who split 2015 between Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers. He hit .297/.372/.541 with 2 HR, 4 RBI, 7 R, 2 SB in 9 games at Round Rock and .219/.264/.313 with 5 HR, 25 RBI, 26 R, 14 SB in 95 games with the Rangers. Over five MLB seasons with the Rangers he hit .255/.305/.361 with 20 HR, 120 RBI, 168 R, 84 SB in 429 games. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Cuba. Martin will be 28 on March 6th.

RHP Bass split 2015 betwwen Round Rock and the Rangers. He was 0-0, 10.38 ERA, 3 K, 2.31 WHIP, .450 BAA in 4.1 IP over 2 games at Round Rock and 0-0, 4.50 ERA, 45 K, 1.34 WHIP, .269 BAA in 64.0 IP over 33 games with the Rangers. Over five MLB seasons with the Rangers. Astros and Padres he was 5-9, 4.40 ERA, 187 K, 1.39 WHIP, .261 BAA, 3 SV in 278.1 IP over 129 games with 18 GS. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the fifth round in 2008 and traded to the Astros in 2013. Bass turned 28 on November 1st.

RHP Wilhelmsen split 2015 between Triple A Tacoma and the Mariners. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 K, 1.25 WHIP, .214 BAA, 1 SV in 4.0 IP over 4 games at Tacoma and 2-2, 3.19 ERA, 60 K, 1.37 WHIP, .246 BAA, 13 SV in 62.0 IP over 53 games with the Mariners. Over five MLB seasons with the Mariners he was 11-10, 2.97 ERA, 294 K, 1.19 WHIP, .206 BAA, 67 SV in 312.1 IP over 267 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the seventh round in 2002. Wilhelmsen will be 32 on December 16.

Jones is an outfielder who split 2015 between Rookie Arizona, Tacoma and the Mariners.He hit .750/.800/1.500 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, 2 SB in 3 games at Arizona, .272/.365/.381 with 1 HR, 28 RBI, 47 R, 25 SB in 72 games at Tacoma and .103/.161/.138 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 R, 1 SB in 28 games with the Mariners. Over two MLB seasons with the Mariners he hit .238/.268/.296 with 0 HR, 9 RBI, 47 R, 28 SB in 136 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the fourth round in 2009. Jones turned 27 on September 24.
