2013 AL All Star Starters

Here are the American League starters for the 2013 All Star as voted by the fans:

Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins was selected at catcher. Prior to the All Star break he hit .320/.402/.473 with 8 HR, 32 RBI, 50 R, 0 SB in 88 games. For his 10 season MLB career he is hitting .323/.405/.468 with 102 HR, 619 RBI, 676 R, 43 SB in 1153 games. This is his sixth All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Twins with the first over all selection of the first round in 2001.

Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles was selected at first base. Prior to the All Star break he hit .315/.392/.717 with 37 HR, 93 RBI, 70 R, 0 SB in 95 games. For his six season MLB career he is hitting .268/.325/.512 with 114 HR, 315 R, 276 R, 7 SB in 531 games. This is his first All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the fifth round in 2006.

Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees was selected at second base. Prior to the All Star break he hit .302/.386/.531 with 21 HR, 65 RBI, 53 R, 6 SB in 95 games. For his nine season MLB career he is hitting .308/.354/.505 with 198 HR, 780 RBI, 771 R, 37 SB in 1309 games. This is his fourth All Star selection. He originally signed with the Yankees as an amateur free agent in 2001 out of the Dominican Republic.

Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers was selected at third base. Prior to the All Star break he hit .365/.458/.674 with 30 HR, 95 RBI, 73 R, 3 SB in 93 games. For his 11 season MLB career he is hitting .321/.399/.468 with 351 HR, 1218 RBI, 1034 R, 36 SB in 1605 games. This is his eighth All Star selection. He originally signed with the Marlins as an amateur free agent in 1999 out of Venezuela.

J J Hardy of the Baltimore Orioles was selected at shortstop. Prior to the All Star break he hit .251/.293/.428 with 16 HR, 52 RBI, 36 R, 1 SB in 96 games. For his nine season MLB career he is hitting .258/.312/.427 with 149 HR, 503 RBI, 520 R, 7 SB in 1055 games. This is his second All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the second round in 2001.

Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays was selected in the outfield. Prior to the All Star break he hit .254/.351/.493 with 20 HR, 55 RBI, 61 R, 6 SB in 87 games. For his 10 season MLB career he is hitting .253/.361/.486 with 203 HR, 558 RBI, 580 R, 43 SB in 1064 games. This is his fourth All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the 20th round in 2000.

Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles was selected in the outfield. Prior to the All Star break he hit .296/.324/.501 with 19 HR, 67 RBI, 67 R, 9 SB in 96 games. For his eight season MLB career he is hitting .280/.323/.458 with 126 HR, 440 RBI, 480 R, 69 SB in 882 games. This is his third All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Mariners with the 37th pick of the first round in 2003. 

Mike Trout of the Los Angles Angels was selected in the outfield. Prior to the All Star break he hit .322/.399/.565 with 15 HR, 59 RBI, 65 R, 21 SB in 92 games. For his three season MLB career he is hitting .312/.386/.544 with 50 HR, 158 RBI, 214 R, 74 SB in 271 games. This is his second All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Angels with the 25th pick of the first round in 2009.

David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox was selected at DH. Prior to the All Star break he hit .317/.402/.606 with 19 HR, 65 RBI, 49 R, 3 SB in 77 games. For his three season MLB career he is hitting .286/.381/.550 with 420 HR, 1391 RBI, 1173 R, 14 SB in 1909 games. This is his ninth All Star selection. He originally signed with the Mariners as an amateur free agent in 1992 out of the Dominican Republic.
