Homer Bailey pitches no hitter vs Giants 070213
Homer Bailey of the Cincinnati Reds pitched a no hitter against the San Francisco Giants in a 3-0 victory on July 2, 2013. His line for the game was 9.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K in 109 pitches. The Reds got the only run they needed in the first when Shin-Soo Choo scored on a sacrifice fly by Joey Votto. Brandon Phillips hit a two run home run with Votto on in the sixth to complete the scoring. This is his second no hitter after throwing one against the Pirates in 2012. This season he is 5-6, 3.57 ERA, 111 K, 1.06 WHIP in 111.0 IP over 17 games. For his seven season MLB career the RHP is 42-39, 4.42 ERA, 608 K, 1.35 WHIP in 746.0 IP over 127 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the seventh pick of the first round in 2004. Bailey turned 27 on May 3rd.
