Andrew Oliver traded to Pirates

Andrew Oliver was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Pittsburgh Pirates on December 5, 2012. In exchange the Tigers received Ramon Cabrera.

LHP Oliver has two seasons of MLB experience pitching brief stints with the Tigers in 2010 and 2011. He pitched 2012 with Triple A Toledo where he was 5-9 with a 4.88 ERA, 112 K, 1.62 WHIP in 118.0 IP over 28 games. For his MLB career he is 0-5 with a 7.11 ERA, 23 K, 1.83 WHIP in 31.2 IP over 7 games. He was originally drafted by the Tigers in the second round in 2009. Oliver turned 25 on December 3rd.

Cabrera is a catcher who played 2012 with the Pirates Double A team Altoona and Triple A team Indianapolis. He hit .276/.342/.367 with 3 HR, 50 RBI, 47 R, 0 SB in 112 games at Altoona and in one game with Indianapolis was 2 for 5 with a double and run scored. He was originally signed by the Pirates as an amateur free agent in 2008 out of Venezuela. Cabrera turned 23 on November 5th.
