Ryan Perry traded to Nationals

Ryan Perry was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Washington Nationals on December 9, 2011. In exchange the Tigers receive Collin Balester.


RHP Perry pitched three seasons with the Tigers. In 2011 he split the season between Triple A and the Tigers. He was 3-0 with a 3.03 ERA, 30 strikeouts, 1.01 WHIP and 7 saves in 32.2 innings over 20 games at Triple A and was 2-0 with a 5.35 ERA, 24 strikeouts and 1.62 WHIP in 37 innings in 36 games with the Tigers. For his career he is 5-6 with a 4.07 ERA, 129 strikeouts, 1.44 WHIP and 2 saves in 161.1 innings over 149 games. He was originally drafted by the Tigers with the 21st pick of the first round in 2008.


RHP Balester pitched four seasons with the Nationals. In 2011 he split the season between Triple A and the Nationals. He was 2-1 with a 4.35 ERA, 46 strikeouts, 1.58 WHIP and one save in 39.1 innings over 28 games at Triple A and was 1-4 with a 4.54 ERA, 34 strikeouts and 1.46 WHIP in 35.2 innings over 23 games with the Nationals. For his career he is 5-16 with a 5.17 ERA, 34 strikeouts and 1.47 WHIP in 167 innings over 62 games. He was originally drafted by the Expos in the fourth round in 2004.
