Marc Rzepczynski was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the San Diego Padres on July 31, 2015. The Indians in exchange received Abraham Almonte.
LHP Rzepczynski was 2-3, 4.43 ERA, 24 K, 1.62 WHIP, .280 BAA in 20.1 IP over 45 games with the Indians in 2015. Over seven MLB seasons with the Indians, Cardinals and Blue Jays he was 11-23, 3.81 ERA, 310 K, 1.37 WHIP, .250 BAA, 1 SV in 330.2 IP over 322 games with 23 GS. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the fifth round in 2007, traded to the Cardinals in 2011 and traded to the Indians in 2013. Rzepczynski will be 30 on August 29.
Almonte is an outfielder who had split 2015 between Triple A El Paso and the Padres. He hit .275/.361/.414 with 4 HR, 35 RBI, 43 R, 11 SB in 61 games at El Paso and .204/.271/.259 with 0 HR, 4 RBI, 6 R, 1 SB in 31 games with the Padres. Over three MLB seasons with the Padres and Mariners he hit .233/.283/.336 with 5 HR, 28 RBI, 35 R, 6 SB in 115 games. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2005 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic, was traded to the Mariners in 2013 and traded to the Padres in 2014. Almonte turned 26 on June 27.
