Oliver Perez traded to Astros

Oliver Perez was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Houston Astros on August 8, 2015. The Diamondbacks in exchange received Junior Garcia. 

LHP Perez was 2-1, 3.10 ERA, 37 K, 1.24 WHIP, .223 BAA in 29.0 IP over 48 games with the Diamondbacks in 2015. Over 13 MLB seasons with the Diamondbacks, Mariners, Mets, Pirates and Padres he has been 67-80, 4.42 ERA, 1337 K, 1.46 WHIP, .244 BAA, 2 SV in 1282.0 IP over 416 games with 195 GS. He originally signed with the Padres in 1999 as an amateur free agent out of Mexico. Perez will be 34 on August 15. 

LHP Garcia had split 2015 between Rookie Greeneville and Class A short season Tri-City. He was 3-0, 1.23 ERA, 19 K, 0.92 WHIP, .179 BAA in 29.1 IP over 7 games at Greenville with 5 GS and 0-1, 0.00 ERA, 7 K, 1.13 WHIP, .281 BAA in 8.0 IP over 2 games at Tri-City with 1 GS. He originally signed with the Astros in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Garcia will be 20 on October 1st.
