Guillermo Mota retires
Guillermo Mota announced his retirement from playing baseball in March 2014. Mota was a RHP with 14 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Expos (1999-2001), Dodgers (2002-2004, 2009), Marlins (2004-2005), Indians (2006), Mets (2006-2007), Brewers (2008) and Giants (2010-2012). He did not play in 2013 after serving a 100 game suspension from MLB in 2012 after testing positive for a performance enhancing substance. He had signed a minor league contract with the Royals in January 2014. For his MLB career he was 39-45, 3.94 ERA, 696 K, 1.28 WHIP, 10 SV in 856.2 IP over 743 games. He originally signed with the Mets in 1990 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Mota was 40 at the time of his retirement.
