Andrew Romine traded to Tigers

Andrew Romine was traded by the Los Angeles Angels to the Detroit Tigers on March 21, 2014. In exchange the Angels received Jose Alvarez. 

Romine is a SS\3B\2B with four seasons of limited MLB experience playing with the Angels. He split 2013 between Triple A Salt Lake and the Angels has he hit .287/.367/.391 with 4 HR, 39 RBI, 61 R, 15 SB in 89 games with Salt Lake and hit .259/.308/.287 with 0 HR, 10 RBI, 9 R, 1 SB in 47 games with the Angels. For his MLB career he has hit .250/.303/.270 with 0 HR, 11 RBI, 13 R, 3 SB in 74 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the fifth round in 2007. Romine turned 28 on December 24.

LHP Alvarez split 2013 between Triple A Toledo and the Tigers as he was 8-6, 2.80 ERA, 115 K, 1.08 WHIP, 1 SV in 128.2 IP over 21 games at Toledo and was 1-5, 5.82 ERA, 31 K, 1.50 WHIP in 38.2 IP over 14 games with the Tigers. He was the Tigers 2014 Minor League Pitcher of the YearHe originally signed with the Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 2005 out of Venezuela. Alvarez will be 25 on May 6th.
