Kinsler Phillips Santana and Cabrera

In the last week Ian Kinsler, Brandon Phillips, Carlos Santana and Asdrubal Cabrera signed contract extensions with their respective teams the Rangers, Reds and Indians. 


Ian Kinsler signed a five year extension for $75 million with the Texas Rangers. In 2011 he hit .255/.355/.477 with 32 HR, 77 RBI, 121 R and 30 SB in 155 games. He is starting his seventh career with the Rangers over which he has hit .276/.356/.471 with 126 HR, 399 RBI, 563 R and 136 SB in 777 games. Kinsler turns 30 on June 22.


Brandon Phillips signed a six year extension for $72.5 million with the Cincinnati Reds. In 2011 he hit .300/.353/.457 with 18 HR, 82 RBI, 94 R and 140 SB in 150 games. He is starting his seventh season with the Reds after four years with the Indians where he spent more time in the minors than with the Indians. Over his career he has hit .272/.322/.433 with 130, HR, 524 RBI, 569 R and 139 SB in 1045 games. Phillips turns 31 in June 28.


Asdrubal Cabrera signed his two year extension for $16.5 million with the Cleveland Indians. In 2011 he had his break out year as he hit .273/.332/.460 with 25 HR, 92 RBI, 87 R and 17 SB in 151 games. He is starting his sixth season with the Indians over which he has hit .280/.341/.413 with 44 HR, 259 RBI, 287 R and 44 SB in 542 games. Cabrera turned 26 on November 13.


Carlos Santana followed his Indians teammate and signed a five year extension for $21 million. In 2011 he hit .239/.351/.457 with 27 HR, 79 RBI, 84 R and 5 SB in 155 games. He is starting his third season with the Indians over which he has hit .244/.363/.462 with 35 HR, 105 RBI, 110 R and 8 SB in 205 games. Santana turned 26 on April 8th.
